BIOMS

Center for Modelling and Simulation in the Biosciences

video The Center for Modelling and Simulation in the Biosciences (BIOMS) in Heidelberg was established in January 2004 to promote the use of modeling and simulation in the biosciences. The research of the center focuses on the question how the cell as a system arises from the interplay of biochemical and physical processes. In particular, we develop new methods in order to achieve a quantitative understanding of biological processes, both on the molecular level and on the level of cells and tissues. For this purpose, close collaboration between experiment and theory is essential.
In summer 2004, three BIOMS research groups had been established which were initially hosted by different member institutions of the BIOMS initiative. In spring 2007, the BIOMS research groups moved into the new BIOQUANT center on the campus Im Neuenheimer Feld.
