Open Positions

The Center for Modeling and Simulation in the Biosciences (BIOMS) in Heidelberg, Germany, is offering a position for a

                         Group Leader (BIOMS-Research Fellow)

The research of the center (BIOMS) is promoting the use of modeling and simulation in the biosciences and is integrated in the network BIOQUANT, the latter including live cell imaging research and technology platforms. BIOMS is a collaboratory of Heidelberg University, the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS), the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and the Max-Planck Institute (MPI) for Medical Research.

The current program focuses on modeling:
  • biomechanics/biochemistry interactions on cellular and systems level
  • transport processes and biochemical reactions in signaling networks and metabolisms
  • information processing of signals on the cellular level
  • the development of biological structures and functionality on molecular and systems level
The open position is primarily geared towards young scientists and limited to a maximum of 5 years. The research fellow and his group is provided with excellent start-up packages and has the option to be integrated in the program of the participating partner institutions.

Application deadline:
  • May 31st, 2011

Important:

All applications should be in English (one single pdf-file, please) and should include :
  • scientific curriculum vitae including age
  • complete list of publications
  • survey of previous and current scientific research (limited up to 3 pages)
  • detailed description and work plan of the envisaged project in the framework of BIOMS (limited up to 5 pages). The suggested project should be aligned with the current BIOMS program focuses mentioned above. Though the funding of BIOMS is mainly oriented to modeling and simulation of biosystems, co-operation with experimental research is expected and should be explained in the project description
  • references (name, address, e-mail)
  • list of past and ongoing funded scientific programs
  • description of experience as team leader
  • list of scientific co-operations
Please send your documentation in one single pdf-file.

Applications should be sent electronically to:
