In our group we have interns, bachelor, master and diploma students, PhDs and Postdocs. All our projects are related to methods from theoretical physics being applied to soft matter and biological systems. Therefore a background in theoretical and computational physics as well as a basic understanding of biology is required. Depending on the specific project, experience with statistical mechanics, soft matter physics, stochastic and/or non-linear dynamics, reaction kinetics, molecular dynamics or systems control theory might be helpful. In any case, the prospective candidate should have a keen interest in interdisciplinary work and in interactions with experimentalists. Our group can offer very good working conditions, dedicated supervision and lots of opportunities to learn and communicate. We are continuously searching for promising candidates on all levels.
We have opening for the following PhD/Postdoc projects:
- Modelling the biophysics of malaria parasite motility (Frontier program)
- Finite element modelling for traction force microscopy (BMBF program New Methods for Systems Biology)
- Modelling the correlation between force and protein localization in adhering cells (BMBF program New Methods for Systems Biology)
